Multimedia savvy

As I pondered on what type of lesson plan to create as well as what two types of multimedia to use, I realized that I could stretch my creativity by using not just two but several multimedia throughout my lesson. I decided to make this lesson a final project for students to demonstrate their level of understanding not just for the Chamoru language and grammar taught in this class but also, the different technology tools taught throughout the year. I chose to use several multimedia which consist of computers, scanner, digital camera and video camcorder using tools such as slideshare.com, slide.com, smilebox.com, photobucket.com, and picturetrail.com.

The activity I decided to use comes from one of the lessons provided by the Guam Public School System. I decided to have my students create a slideshow of themselves and who they are, where they come from, and the members of their family. Students are to discuss who they would like to one day become as an adult in the career field in Chamoru using their choice of method. The title of this final project is called “Put GuĂ„hu (About Me).” I had to make sure my activity followed through with the objectives required for this assignment. Students will be evaluated not only demonstrating their level of understanding with the Chamoru language and grammar taught in class but the technology as well being able to create slideshows and movie clips once again using their choice of methods taught throughout the year.

One of the standards I decided to use is...

III.) Teaching Learning, and the Curriculum
Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. Teachers:
A.) facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards.
B.) use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
C.) apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
D.) manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.

When I walked into this class I was just an ordinary person who knew the basic technology tools and multimedia in the world today. Now as I exit out of this class I am more appreciative of all there is to explore with technology as well as how important it is today. Other than the assignments taking a toll on me due to the many personal things happening in my life I told myself that “I can do this.” I can be a mother, a student, as well as take on anything and anyone that tries to push me back down. Whenever I seem to pick myself up there is always someone who will try to push me down. However, appreciating life and what I have learned throughout this semester I am determined to continue and move on to bigger and better things. With that said, I have enjoyed being a student in this class being able to learn and explore many interesting things in the technology world.
